Olympic Dixielanders

(class of 2006-2007)

JITOS supports a youth band made up of young musicians from Port Angeles and Sequim middle and high schools. The group on the CD cover shown below consists of Casey Heinle - trumpet; Brian Ryder- trumpet, Allegra Pomeroy -  clarinet, Dani Weatherbee - clarinet, Ephraim Manning—tenor sax, Brittany Brabant - trombone/vocal, Jaycie Osterberg - drums, Robbie Watters - tuba, Anthony Albright - banjo, Liam Oden - piano. This is the second year in the band for all of these students.

Bud Critchfield is the youth Program coordinator. Bud works with Sanford Feibus, the music director. Sanford leads regular evening practice sessions at the Port Angeles High School  and he leads the band during their gigs. Bud has been arranging about 20 “gigs” (playing opportunities) for the band over a school year.

JTOS always sends a number of youngsters to jazz camp. During the summer of 2006, JITOS sent all ten of these youngsters to Sacramento Traditional Jazz Camp. That effort, of course, takes money.

This band has recently cut a CD aptly called “Olympic Dixielanders Youth Jazz Band”.  This CD is available from JITOS for the sum of $17 including mailing. All proceeds go the youth band program. Why not order one (or several as gifts) and lend the students a hand. Send your order to:
